I have suffered form UTI’s from a young age sometimes up to twice a month < yep its hell. I have found that the following 10 tips for dealing with a UTI can help a lot, I hope you never have one but if you do follow these tips for some relief:
Get to a Doctor
I know when a UTI hits the last thing you want to do is get in a car and sit in a Drs waiting room, but honestly most UTÍ’s will need antibiotics and the sooner you get them into your system the better.
Drink plenty of water
Drink as much water as you can you want to flush the infection out.
Put socks on your feet
Yep this really works, it doesn’t matter how hot you are put socks on your feet a UTI can often come with an internal chill by keeping your feet warm it wont aggravate your bladder as much.
Have a hot bath
Laying in a hot bath will give you a lot of relief, your bladder will relax and the water will be soothing.
Try to limit toilet breaks
As hard as it is to stay off the toilet with that terrible urge that makes you want to go back every minute, try and hold off drink a litre of water if you can and let it build up so you can do a decent wee. By going back to the toilet every few minutes you end up pushing with your bladder and the pain will get worse before it gets better.
Cranberry Juice is known to help with the urine retract so as soon as you feel the tingle start drinking it.
Stay away from sugars
I know when you are miserable in pain it is easy to grab for a chocolate, but if possible try and stay off sugar as it does affect the bladder.
Stay off your feet
I cant lay down when I have a UTI it hurts to much but I sit up on a recliner chair, rug up stay warm and wait for pain to pass. If you start antibiotics they should work pretty quick.
Some women a prone to thrush after antibiotics but that is a whole other post lol
