Low Calorie Lasagne!

For those who don’t know, I have been on a weight loss journey for the past 2 years and have lost 50kgs, yep 50kgs a lot right? I obviously love my food!

Lasagne would probably have to be up there with one of my favourite dishes. It is so packed with calories and carbs though so when trying to loose weight its not a common meal I would make.

For me when dieting, there is no “just eat salads and veges” and “cut out junk food” I don’t work that way. I have been on diets since 10 years old and cutting out things I love to eat is just not sustainable for me. As soon as the motivation wears off I am back to my old way of eating.

One of the things I have learnt is how to substitute ingredients and how to cut down on those hidden calories. So I was super excited when I came across these Slendier Pasta ranges. They have a full pasta range with 6 different varieties including a rice option.

They are also:

  • Low Calorie, one whole packet of lasagne sheets has 20 calories, how awesome is that!
  • Low Carb*
  • Good Source of Fibre
  • Gluten Free
  • Fat Free
  • Dairy Free
  • Soy Free
  • Sugar Free
  • Vegan

The sheets are a lot narrower then normal lasagne sheets but they still work a treat.

I am not going to lie they are not  like Grandmas lasagne sheets, but they are still really yummy and with only 20 calories in a whole pack it sort of puts Grandmas lasagne on the back burner.

I make a basic bolognaise sauce but I only use 200gms of mince in the whole lasagne, I then jam pack it with a whole heap of grated veges, whatever I have in the fridge and want to use up. I don’t add béchamel sauce to mine as I try and keep the calories low, I do use 200 grams of lite grated cheese though, which I spread between the layers.

It is a super yummy meal, and even if you have seconds its not going to show on your hips lol

You can purchase these from Coles, Woolworths, and some IGA’S and Food Works stores. I would definitely recommend giving these a go, not only for the low calorie aspect but because they are also gluten, soy, sugar and fat free and I wouldn’t recommend it if it  didn’t taste good, believe me!

Don’t get me wrong you will still see wicked desserts on my blog, but I do know more about moderation now.

Have you tried any of the Slendier range? Leave a comment and let me know if you have X
