We all love taking holidays. Whether it be an epic 6 week overseas adventure, a weekend staycation not far from home or a beach trip with our nearest and dearest, holidays are one of the best ways of recharging ourselves. However sometimes our dream trip seems well beyond our budget, much to our disappointment, but the good news is, there are plenty of ways to save on travel so that your dream trip is closer to becoming a reality.
TRAVEL DEAL WEBSITES
Discount shopping sites are popping up all over the internet and with them comes a whole lot of travel based deal sites also. These are money saving gold mines, with special deals at a fraction of the price for all your favourite destinations in Australia or worldwide, as well as many you may not have considered before. They are a great way to save big on accommodation and travel packages, although be mindful that they will generally always have very strict conditions that you need to be aware of before you book, such as limited time periods for when travel can be taken or extra costs that you should be aware of. Always read the fine print.
LAST MINUTE PACKAGES
Most travel agencies will have last minute travel packages that pop up from time to time to various destinations. These may not be the destination you originally considered, but they are worth checking out for some cheap travel options. Many will include accommodation and transfers, or last minute airfares. If you are lucky, it may include the lot.
You will often save a bit when you book your holidays online, as this option does not require a travel agent to assist you in person or over the phone. This is especially the case for airlines. Often booking direct through an airline website is cheaper than comparison websites as they do not charge a fee for using the comparison service, although this is not always the case. Always explore your options.
Early bird packages and flight deals are often released in advance, so if you know where you want to go well ahead of time and have the finances to pay the booking fees and required upfront payments, booking early can save your hundreds, particularly on flights.
Travel expos can be a great place to learn more about your desired destinations, while also scoring yourself some on the day specials that are limited only to expo attendees. Make sure you do your research before you go however, as not all the expo deals are much better than general day-to-day prices. When you do your research it means you may also be able to do some negotiation also.
By utilising these travel saving tips, you can have your dream holiday on a much smaller budget, making that next holiday far more attainable than you possibly realised. Do you have any travel saving tips? If so, we would love to hear them.
